Beautiful singing, hundreds of sparkly costumes, laughter and tears and lots of heart.
It’s time for one of Bloomington-Normal’s most treasured holiday traditions. Here comes the Pantagraph Holiday Spectacular, now in its 18th year.
The Spec, as it’s called, opens at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, December 6th at 7:30 p.m.,
with matinee performances at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 7th and Sunday, December 8th .

Tickets are available at the BCPA box office (309) 434-2777 or online.
The Holiday Spectacular is a homegrown extravaganza with story elements that are unique to Central Illinois.
They weave together polished production numbers that would be at home on big city stages (at many times the price).

The 2019 version of the Holiday Spectacular includes the blockbuster features audiences have come to love such as the precision-dancing Toy Soldiers, the enormous all-cast Santa medley and the mass choir Nativity. Long time attendees will find many surprises, too.

Executive Producer Marcia Basolo, in partnership with the Pantagraph, began the Holiday Spectacular adventure 18 years ago.
Thousands have been drawn in through the years, young and old, onstage and backstage.

Lori Adams directs the show and Nancy Steele Brokaw writes the story portion. Michael Schneider and Angela Bargemann direct the music and Stacy Terry, Janet Hayslip-Streenz, and Chris Terven share the choreography. All are long time Spec veterans who are drawn in by the chance to work on a big community show that reflects the joys of the season and the miracle of what happens when people work together for something bigger than themselves.
